The special aerodynamics and the synthetic materials used for the building of some German flying wing prototypes led to the casual discovery of their stealth properties, a finding that made some of the desperate generals of the Luftwaffe believe they had finally found the ultimate weapon to use against the Allied radars.
The status of flying wings therefore changed from curiosity to high-priority secret weapon.
At the beginning of 1945 there were three programs to manufacture stealth bombers in Germany, specifically designed to launch attacks on London, Moscow and New York with special bombs of an unspecified type.
